PNotes Are Electronic Sticky Notes
Note-taking applications, such as Evernote, Simplenote, etc. abound, each with pros and cons, but most work tailored to a specific need. Want to add stickies to your documents? There's GumNotes. Want to access your notes anywhere but don't want them on your hard/flash drives? Here are some web-based sticky notes applications (my personal favorite is Jjot) or you can even try making your own with Notepad.
PNotes are electronic sticky notes
PNotes, short for either Pinned Notes or Portable Notes, is a feature-packed sticky notes program, but not just any. It's a worthy addition to your collection of portable applications as it includes ways to protect your notes, reminder alerts, support for drag and drop of pictures, it's been translated to many languages, etc. Here are some of the more interesting features of the PNotes sticky notes software.
Simple Sticky Notes looks similar to the native Sticky Note app but goes a mile ahead in terms of features. It has the same layout and a bunch of text formatting options like different font styles, font colors, hyperlink. The notes support Images, Date & Time as well as special characters. If you have already copied the text onto the clipboard, you can choose to create a sticky note directly with the copied text in it. You can trigger this by pressing Alt+V which serves as a hotkey. The app houses many hotkeys as triggers and you can customize them as per your preference.
The settings menu lets you back up the sticky notes to a database file and restores from the same. You can easily transfer this database file through the Network and restore your notes back on the other system. The Sticky Notes manager lets you manage all the notes through a single screen. The added feature which I liked was the Recycle bin which consists of your deleted Sticky Notes and you can even choose to restore them back.
Apart from all the features that Simple Sticky Notes provide, Stickies lets you lock the content of your Stick Notes. At times, I end up writing my passwords on the sticky notes which is not a good practice but Stickies lets you get away with that by encrypting your sticky notes. You can choose a strong password and encrypt the stickies and this will keep them locked and invisible. You need to be careful with the password because there is no option to retrieve your stickies if you forget the password.
Stickies also lets you quickly Google the text in your sticky notes but it inherently uses Internet Explorer as the browser which is not something many would like. There is an added feature that lets you attach stickies to a particular application or window which triggers it to pop up as soon as you open the specified application. You can choose to add friends in Stickies and send them Sticky Notes directly via their IP addresses. The app has an option to enter SMTP configurations which enables you to directly send sticky notes via email.
Unlike all the other apps in this list, NoteZilla has a full-fledged suite of mobile and desktop applications. That means you can sync your sticky notes from your mobile to the desktop and also store them on the cloud. You can readily download your sticky notes on any devices by just signing in with your NoteZilla account. Obviously, this comes with a price tag of $ 15/year. Initially, you get a 45 day trial period.
The search bar provided helps to search through the sticky notes and that helps if you have a lot of Sticky Notes lying around. Unlike the above-mentioned apps, NoteZilla has an inbuilt spell checker which marks the text red if it is misspelled. It has an inbuilt dictionary where you can add words over a point of time.
A convenient feature which I found was Diary which creates a sticky note titled with the current date. This really helps to sort the sticky notes based on dates. Unlike Stickies, PNotes uses your default browser to quickly search texts from the notes. It also provides you the option to export sticky notes to PDF, RTF or One Note etc.
This could be the epitome of all sticky notes but so many features make the menu quite cluttered which is quite scary to look at. Since this is portable the app it needs to be running the entire time in the background. There are times when the app ceases to function in the background and this causes an annoying dialogue box to pop up every time.
You can set reminders like any other Sticky Notes app but since this product is from Google, the reminder is synced with your Google calendar app and the reminder is synced with your phone. None of the sticky note apps have a speech-to-text option but with Keep, there is a workaround available. You can dictate the notes to Google Assistant which will, in turn, save them to Keep and this makes it really handy. If you browse a lot over the Internet then you can try the Chrome extension which lets you quickly save any text from the browser to keep with just a right click.
PNotes Portable is a fully portable version of PNotes, a sticky notes manager. Imagine a pad full of yellow sticky notes that can look after themselves: That's PNotes. PortableApps provides the portable part, which means you can carry it with you on a USB drive and run it on any PC running Windows 2000 to 8 without installing, uninstalling, or leaving tracks in the Registry.
PNotes Portable is very easy to use. A yellow Welcome note instructed us to right-click the app's tray icon to open an extensive main menu; double-clicking the icon opens a fresh note. PNotes has a lot of useful features, options, and extras, including a Diary, Hot keys, Password, Languages, Backup and Synchronization, and Skins. A Docking feature let us display and organize all notes at once. Bottom line: PNotes Portable is one of the best-performing and most versatile Windows sticky notes apps we've tried, and we've tried plenty.

Good list of just sticky notes program. But consider ShixxNOTE program which is a desktop sticky notes (post-it) program, that allows you to keep desktop sticky notes and also send them across the network to others. The program runs in client/server mode and transmits messages or notes to selected ShixxNOTE clients on the network. You can also send messages to machines that do not have ShixxNOTE installed, in which case the program will automatically use the standard Windows Messenger service to deliver the message.
Freebie Notes is a free program which provides you the convenience of electronic sticky notes for your home or office use. This way you can never miss out on a deadline or appointment.
Simple Sticky Notes is a sticky notes app that lets you jot down important information on your screen. Designed for Windows, the software offers a range of utilities and lets you get rid of offline post-it notes. The app boasts many features that make note-taking effortless and fun. The Simple Sticky Notes download also lets users customize each note and share them with other users.
One of the reasons why this desktop sticky notes app is popular is that it offers users a range of themes that make note-taking a lot more fun! The app has many themes like bubbles, stone, concrete, desert, Christmas, and more. In addition to this, the Windows program also lets users change the tone of the reminders and use elements like bold, italics, and underline.
You could say that the program has two interfaces; one for each sticky note and one for the Control Panel. The sticky notes can have their skin changed and they can also be resized and have their features accessed either via the right-click menu or via the toolbar at the bottom. The Control Panel, as its name suggests, is where you control sticky notes and their properties. It is basically a window with a sidebar on the left with some items (All notes, Recycle Bin, Diary, Search results, Backup, Favorites and Incoming) and their contents displayed in the window next to it. The Control Panel also has quite a lot toolbar buttons, making it a bit confusing at first.
Basically, P Notes is a tiny tool to help you write short notes and save them to your desktop so that you can take them with you any time. You can customize the notes making use of the various colors, fonts and font formatting and the same goes for the background image. Also, you can customize the size of the sticky notes or the title bars according to your preference. In addition to all these, you can also change the visibility of the system tray, customize the actions of the insert and drop tools, hide/show the taskbar, adjust the keyboard focus, adjust the size of the text area and the button behavior. All these features make Pnotes a real-time productivity solution.
